Minor Procedures in Armstrong Creek
Not every procedure requires a hospital visit. At Armstrong Creek Doctors, our GPs are equipped to perform a range of minor procedures right here in our clinic, offering a convenient option for many common concerns.
What Are Minor Procedures?
Minor procedures are small-scale clinical treatments that can be performed safely in a GP clinic setting. They are typically low-risk, do not require a general anaesthetic, and allow patients to return home the same day.
At Armstrong Creek Doctors, our GPs perform minor procedures for a range of common injuries, ailments, and skin concerns. If a procedure is beyond the scope of what can be safely performed in our clinic, your GP will refer you to the appropriate specialist or hospital setting.
Why Have a Procedure Done at Your GP Clinic?
Choosing to have a minor procedure performed at your regular GP clinic has a number of practical advantages:- Your GP already knows your health history, supporting continuity of care
- Appointments are often available within a shorter timeframe for minor concerns
- You are seen in a familiar, comfortable environment by a doctor you trust
- For many minor concerns, assessment and treatment may be possible at the same appointment, subject to clinical findings
- Follow-up care is easy to arrange with the same GP who performed the procedure
Minor Skin Procedures
Our GPs perform a range of minor skin procedures for common skin conditions. These may include:
- Skin lesion and mole removal
- Skin tag removal
- Cyst removal
- Skin biopsies
- Cryotherapy (freezing of warts and benign skin lesions)
- Wound closure and suturing
- Abscess drainage
- Cauterisation of minor skin concerns
If you have a skin concern you would like assessed or treated, your GP will examine the area, explain your options, and advise on the most appropriate course of action.
Other Common Minor Procedures
Beyond skin concerns, our GPs can assist with a range of other minor procedures that are commonly managed in a GP clinic setting, including:
- Ingrown toenail treatment
- Ear syringing and wax removal
- Joint injections
- Minor wound management and dressing
If you are unsure whether your concern can be managed in clinic, please contact our reception team and we will point you in the right direction.
When Should I See a GP for a Minor Procedure
You may benefit from booking a procedure appointment if you:
- Have a skin lesion, mole, or growth that has changed in appearance or is causing concern
- Have a minor wound or injury that requires professional attention
- Have been advised by another health professional to follow up with a GP for a procedure
- Have a skin condition that has not responded to other treatments
- Have noticed a new or unusual skin change and would like it assessed
When in doubt, book a consultation. Your GP will assess your concern and advise on whether a procedure is appropriate.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Before Your Procedure
Your GP will assess your concern and explain all available options before any procedure is discussed. There is no obligation to proceed until you feel fully informed and comfortable.
During Your Procedure
Your GP will explain each step clearly and obtain your informed consent before proceeding. All procedures are performed in a clean, safe clinical environment. Local anaesthetic is used where appropriate to minimise discomfort.
After Your Procedure
Before you leave, your GP will provide clear aftercare instructions to support your recovery. A follow-up appointment may be recommended depending on the nature of your procedure. You are welcome to contact our reception team at any time if you have questions after your appointment.
